1 OF EVERY 88
Autism impacts 1 of every 88 children, and 1 of 54 boys. More than 30,000 children are diagnosed with autism in the U.S. every year, more than the number diagnosed with childhood diabetes, cancer, and AIDS – combined.
While there is currently no medical test or cure for autism, targeted Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy can help those diagnosed to learn how to better communicate, develop relationships, play, care for themselves, learn in school, succeed at work, and participate fully and productively in family and community life, regardless of their age.
THE NEW LANDSCAPE
Until recently, families who attempted to access autism benefits through insurance companies have found it nearly impossible. Now, new laws have changed how treatment is managed.
In most states, insurers are now required to provide ABA therapy for those diagnosed with autism. While the new mandates provide new opportunities, navigating the changes is challenging for everyone involved. ASG exists as the autism stakeholder-friendly intermediary among providers, parents, and health plans.
